Get moving girl
I am ALL about living an active life! Being active is a lifestyle choice. I make an effort everyday to be outside, enjoy the elements, and get a good sweat in. Here are a few tips how I stay active:
I make an effort to run 3 to 4 times a week ranging from 3 to 8 miles (depending on my mood). I set my standard at 5 miles. Getting in at least two five miles runs a week is a good base line to start with. I decided on five miles because of this lady I met at the gym. She was rocking and still running at the age 60. I asked her what her secret is (well come to find out she is a former model) and she told me that she runs five miles four times a week since she was 19 years old.
What I took away from her workout routine is to find what works for your body and what you enjoy then it make it routine.
Life can get crazy with work, family, friends, football season, or whatever else is happening but by making something routine it helps combat these untimely events.
Switching up your excise is important too. Challenging your body to move in ways it isn't used to is SO beneficial! Especially if you're trying to lose weight. I switch up my cardio weekly by maybe throwing in a spin class, hot yoga, or pilates. I've been really into classic pilates lately for my core.
I'm currently training for my second half marathon. Getting a group of people together to train for something is seriously so much fun and it holds you accountable. It can be just a 5k or a marathon. Just pick your poison! I'll do a second post soon on how I am training for my second half verses my first.
