pg. 18 - demi boot dreams
Q: I'm nervous to wear a wider legged jean. Any advice?
Paige: Go for it! A wider leg pant is so flattering I swear. You just have to know how to style it.
First, Know your height and where the length needs to hit on you. Wider legged jeans typically are a little cropped. So if your on the taller side look for companies that sell their jeans in a tall (like Madewell). If you're on the shorter side I would suggest trying on the jeans instead of ordering them online, because as the jean flares you want it to begin lower than your knee. So vice versa, look for a company that sells petite jeans (like Loft).
Second, know what shoes do and don't work with a wider legged pant. For example, a slide on mule with a heel, pointy toed heels, or chunky sandals are easy. Boots on the other hand can be harder to style. If the boot hits the wrong spot on the leg it can cause your legs to look shorter (which we do NOT want). So If you want to wear a boot with a wider legged jean make sure it has at least a 2 inch heel. Also look for a boot low enough to see about an inch and half of leg or tall enough to cover all visible leg.
Lastly, don't be scared to experiment. If you buy some demi-boot jeans and want to play around styling them, go for it! I have gotten dressed and made it all the way to work before realizing I did not wear the right shoes for this style of jeans. Oh Well! I'd love to hear how you style your jeans!
