IT'S JEAN SHORTS SEASON!

Jean shorts are hard. Why? BECAUSE you need the perfect cut, color, brand, and length without spending a fortune on half a pair of jeans! Plus if you wait to long all the good ones sell out. Every year around spring time I hunt, browse, and search the web for the perfect pair! I mean think about it if you find the perfect pair you can wear them forever. The pair I have one I've had them for five years and I still wear them all summer long. Needless to say finding good jean shorts is important.

Brand

When shopping around make sure to look for a brand that makes GOOD denim. If you buy jeans at xyz store than you can probably trust the denim shorts. Here is a list of my favorite brands when it comes to jean shorts:

Be prepared to spend around $50-$120 a given pair. If you buy in the off season you can probably score some designer brands at half the price. I bought two pairs of One Teaspoon shorts at Nordstrom Rack this winter for $30 a piece compared to the $150 I spent on my full priced pair.

I'm a fan of raw hem on a denim short, because it lengthens the leg.

Also make sure you are paying attention to the back pockets. Want your butt to look bigger? Go for a bigger square.

Length

I find when shopping for jean shorts the hardest component is length. Either the shorts are too short or long. My mom always tells me she is to old to wear my jean shorts because they are too short. First of all she has killer legs (runs 8 miles 3 times a week legs) but she is convinced. So when shopping for jean shorts make sure you feel comfortable in your own skin. You do you here. If the shorter shorts make you feel hot go for it! My one rule is please don't let any cheeks show...

Tips:

If your legs are on the short side go for a high waisted short and don't for get to give that top a front tuck. The higher waist will help the legs appear longer. Pro tip? Opt for a nude shoe to really elongate the leg.

If you have legs for days go for a distressed short that is longer in length like this one.  Everyone will all be jealous of your killer legs. Pair with a colorful slide on mule.

Got a cute bootie? Stay away from a cuffed short and look for a more distressed finish. Look for a short like this one. Notice how the hem is circular. It's longer in the front and back and short on the sides you want this!

Chunky sandals are all the rage right now.

A neutral color will be easy to pair with jean shorts all summer long. Do you tan well? Go for a sandal with metallic gold straps. If your more of a sit under the umbrella girl look for a soft pink color.

Word to the wise gray jean shorts are really hard to match. I have a pair and struggle everytime I try to wear them. You can't go wrong with a black, light blue, and dark blue pair of shorts.
